Clients

Every person who talks to you on Drop has a card with their details, their projects, their conversation and the summary of that conversation you ask for.

Someone becomes your client when they write you their first message. If they only verify their email and leave without writing, you will not see them in the app, and after 24 hours they are forgotten. Your own email on your page does not create any client: to test the chat, enter with another email.

The client card

  • Contact: email, phone and language; the name is at the top, in the header. The email is the one they verified when starting the chat, or the one you entered when adding them, and it does not change. The language is inferred by the agent from their conversation; until they write, it is yours.
  • Minor: the label shows on the card, in their chat and on their bookings when the client said they were 16 or 17 on entering your chat, or when the date of birth on their consent says so. Someone who says they are under 16 cannot write to you. If you have seen on their ID that they are 18 or over, remove it with Remove «Minor» in the menu at the top right; if it came from their date of birth, that is removed too.
  • Actions: chat, edit, block (or unblock) and delete (or restore), in the menu at the top right.
  • Chair notes: whatever you want to jot down. The client does not see them.
  • Projects: how many they have with you, each with its photo and its status.
  • Conversation summary: the last summary you asked for of everything you have talked about. See below.
  • Conversation: direct access to the chat.

Summarizing the conversation

Summaries come with Trace and Ink; on Zero the app says Available on Trace. On the card, the Conversation summary card shows the last summary you asked for, with its date. Tap Summarise the conversation for the assistant to write a new one in your language about the whole conversation: what the client wants (all their tattoos), what is agreed and what is still open. It is handy when picking up a conversation the agent has handed to you. The client does not see it.

It is paid with your credits like an assistant reply: usually less than one credit and never more than 5. It does not count toward the conversation's daily cap and it works even if you have the AI switched off, but not without the AI permission: without it Drop sends the chat to no model, the card tells you so with a button to Settings → AI assistant, and nothing is charged. If you have no credits left, it tells you, nothing is charged and the last summary stays there. For the summary of a single project, open the project: see Projects and bookings.

Adding a client by hand

If you already have clients from before Drop, add them from the + next to the Clients title (it opens with the Clients card on Home) with their name and email, and press Add client. You can also add them when creating a project, with New client. Check the email carefully: it cannot be changed afterwards. Drop does not write to them until they confirm that email by entering your chat (drop.ink/@your-handle/chat): until then they receive neither the emails about their bookings nor the ones about your messages, and their card and their bookings remind you of it so you can let them know yourself. Importing from a file will come later.

Filters

In the list you can filter by All, New, Active, Session ahead, Completed, Blocked and Recently deleted, and swipe each card: to the left to delete, to the right to open their chat. The list loads more clients as you scroll down.

Blocking a client

From the menu on their card. A blocked client cannot write in their conversation and the agent does not answer them, so they cannot book either. You can unblock them whenever you want. If you also want to remove their conversation from your list, archive it from Chats (see The chat and your agent).

Deleting and restoring

When you delete a client, everything of theirs (conversation, photos, projects, bookings and reviews) disappears from your view and stays in Recently deleted for 14 days. Within that time you can restore them with one tap. After that, they are completely deleted and cannot be recovered; your statistics are recalculated. Their signed consents are not deleted: see Consents.

What Drop keeps about your clients

Only what the two of you need for the project: their verified email, their name and phone number if they gave them, their messages and references, their projects, their bookings and their review. We never ask for their Instagram or for data that is not needed. A client can ask us by email for a copy or the deletion of their data; see Account and privacy.

Frequently asked questions

Can the same client be with other Drop artists?
Yes, but what they talk about with you is seen only by you and them. Each artist sees only their own relationship with that client.

Can I change a client's email?
No, because it is their verified identity. If they use another email, it will be a new card.

Why does a client not receive the emails about their bookings?
Because they have not confirmed their email yet. Drop only writes to addresses their owner has confirmed, so that nobody can use it to write to just anyone. A client you added by hand confirms it the first time they enter your chat with that email; from then on they receive the emails. In the meantime, the card says “Gets no emails from Drop”, so let them know yourself.
